On August 1st, Bottlemoth released their double singles “You’ll Always Have Us // Everything Works Out In The End” as a sneak peak into their upcoming album—titled Even Us Ghosts—that will be released this October 17th. The band, featuring former members of The Bridges, has been touring in the UK under their previous moniker and supporting other bands and festivals.
The vocalist and lyricist Ethan Proctor (he/him) shares that these two singles were the first and last songs written for the album. “You’ll Always Have Us” kicks off with an energetic start, evoking the feelings that come with summer’s end and the want to reconnect with friends. Although time can make everything feel like a blur, the song captures the essence of how friendships pull through during difficult moments. It was inspired by Proctor’s own experienceswhen he was living in London right before the pandemic. He notes, “Living in London where everything is so fast, I don’t know if I checked in with my friends outside of the bubble as much as I wanted to.”
“Everything Works Out In The End” takes a mellow tone that conveys a sense of reassurance during a time that might feel like things are going way too fast. Proctor wrote this song in Glasgow as Bottlemoth drew close to finishing their album, hoping he could express his feelings with fewer words. He reflects, “I can’t recall who said it [everything works out in the end] first to me, perhaps my parents or grandma said a lot when I was growing up. It’s a sentiment that has stuck; our biggest problems now won’t matter in 6 months, and that is a calming ideal. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end yet.”
Bottlemoth created something truly special, offering a genuine and heartfelt message to a world of listeners that crave deep expression. Their talent and artistic vision have an ability to captivate a larger audience and their voice is one many should be eager to hear.
