I’m excited to revisit Bottlemoth with their new single, “Landslide (people change)”, as they offer us another glimpse into their upcoming debut album, Even Us Ghosts, set for release on October 17th.
Bottlemoth has been steadily releasing singles in anticipation of their debut, and “Landslide (people change)” explores themes of starting over and confronting change. Lyricist Ethan Proctor (he/him) shares insights on the track: “The last few years have been a whirlwind. I first wrote this song when Chess and I moved back to Somerset from London. It was a period of deep reflection and change for the band. We can get stuck in ruts, but taking time to look inward is crucial. It’s a profound realization that we’re constantly finding ourselves anew.”
The song evokes a sense of yearning for a home that has changed over time. The title “Landslide” symbolizes the ways in which change can occur suddenly or gradually, reshaping our surroundings. This imagery is a fitting title for the song’s comforting tone—it has a way of slowing down the chaos of life, offering reassurance that everything will be okay.
I wholeheartedly recommend streaming this group’s work: Bottlemoth’s meaningful messages and soothing lyrics mark them as a band to watch closely as they continue to navigate and express the changes we all experience in life.
