WRITTEN BY CHERRYLLE URBANO
Ever had one of those dreams where you’re running in place, trying to escape something you’re not entirely sure of, but know the inevitable will sink you down, so you’d rather not know and just try to run away? This beautifully haunting song, “Time On A Good Day,” by Overheard reaches deep into my soul, drawing me into a mesmerizing state of mind, body, and spirit. I may not have known the band before, but I’m definitely a fan now.
Overheard is a band with a unique sound that blends indie rock, folk, and grunge music. They have a talent for weaving interesting dynamics through the genres to create a poetic catharsis of melodies. “Time On A Good Day” was released as an introduction to their new album, Intertwined, which was released on October 25th. Featuring a majestic 90s-style guitar intro, I feel like I could literally dance to it in the middle of a forest. The track is quite poetic and entrancing, with dreamy vibes and a hauntingly beautiful vocal performance.
The accompanying music video captivates with its creative concept. As someone who has taken a few film and editing classes (though I’m no professional), I admire how they filmed each member individually—singing, drumming, and playing guitar—then overlaid the footage. It’s like they’re in their own little time space, and when combined, it creates something truly enchanting.
In the release, guitarist and vocalist Erin Barth-Dwyer expressed, “This song deals with the elusive and relentless nature of time. It’s about the inevitability of change and the struggle to hold onto meaningful experiences amid life’s constant motion. But it’s also about finding beauty in the impermanence of moments and recognizing the growth that comes from navigating life’s uncertainties.”
I would totally put this song on my favorite TV show, Charmed. I won’t lie—I was a bit spooked, but I love the whole vibe. I ended up listening to their entire album, Intertwined. Please stream their new song and album, you won’t be disappointed!
