Jane Doe is a metal band based out of Los Angeles, LA consisting of vocalist Izzy Kay (she/her) guitarist and vocalist Zephry Lyne, drummer Jake Kalichman and guitarist Charlie Rhoad. Their music video for their new song “Atlas” released on Youtube on March 7th.
“Atlas” is a witty, sharp song with a take-no-prisoners approach. The song’s thesis is to mock those who are so self important when it comes to their personal victim narrative that they display an emotional performance of the Greek myth, the Titan Atlas.
The music video plays along with lyrics with humorous visuals and a satirical flare. The band members have various props, such as blown up Earths and weights, that they mockingly pretend are heavy in a tongue-in-cheek approach as they make fun of the antagonist of the story. The antagonist being an arrogant complainer; one who is righteous in their personal suffering that they are unaware of how they come off to others.
You can listen to “Atlas” on Youtube, Apple Music and Spotify. If you would like to see Jane Doe to hear their latest single live, you can see them on tour! They will be in cities in Oregon and Washington this month.
