I am here to tell you that upcoming artists are still honing into the R&B realm. Being an ‘02 baby growing up with a creative family, I was always around music. My family has shown me the way to good music genres; I grew up in a Rap and R&B household. Thus, I am well versed in hearing a good R&B sound.
Hurri Haran’s new release, “Zoom,” fits the R&B love and energy perfectly! Being from Brooklyn, he stays true to his roots in finding his soundscape. Harran uses the classic R&B recipe like a cool intro, a soulful beat, and incredible adlibs. The intro is my favorite because every time I hear a cool intro, it automatically classifies as a creative, beautiful R&B song. Huran creatively uses that intro throughout the song in the background. It’s a unique way to give a storytelling element to the audience. It’s almost like you are hearing two different versions of the story. The press release explains the song “captures the push and pull of a relationship in turmoil, balancing the tension between longing and frustration with slick metaphors…” In other words, the lyrics give a vulnerable and honest outlook on a relationship.
I give Hurran props for keeping to his sound because some artists get caught in giving the listener what they want, but Huran gives his listeners what they need. You wouldn’t know you needed it until you listen to it from start to finish. The beat is infatuating, especially with the trumpets in the background—a soulful tie together with the lyrics and powerful beat. It’s exciting knowing I get to write articles about Huran’s singles now, as I know one day I'll get to say I was there in the beginning, because man, oh man! I know this is just the beginning. He has so much more to say in his songs and I can’t wait to hear what else he has in store. In the meantime, check out “Zoom” to get in your feels and join the R&B wave. Cheers to keeping R&B alive!
