“Let ‘Em Loose” by Krooked Tongue

Krooked Tongue, a small band from Bristol, England, released their latest single “Let ‘Em Loose” on February 28th along with their first self-shot music video released on Youtube on March 6th. The small rock trio consists of vocalist and bass guitarist Oli Rainsford, vocalist and guitarist Dan Smith and drummer Harry Pritchard.

Their latest single is a familiar sentiment among many people today. To log off our screens, look around and enjoy life. Screen addiction plagues many of our social environments. Whether you’re with family at dinner, at the mall with friends or just by yourself at home, multiple screens seem to be ever present while the rest of us become less so. “Let ‘Em Loose” sends out a commonplace but important message; too not miss out on life just because the siren of the screen is calling.

Krooked Tongue’s self-produced music video’s filmography flows with the lyrics of   “Let ‘Em Loose”. The video starts off with a dark figure opening a computer screen with the single’s title on display in red. Hues of charcoal, red, black and smokey blue flash in the different scenes of the video to represent the lyrics' end-of-days nature. For a budget that was less than two hundred euros, the production value is very impressive.

The song itself feels like a new twist on rock with haunting lyrics referencing message boards and a robot. Oli Rainsford’s soft spoken vocals bring life to the gentle yet firm message of the lyrics.

In an interview Rainsford says, “We need to regain our sense of importance. Let ‘em loose is your warning.” You can hear that chilling warning to not fall to screen addiction in the bridge. “Pray / Time creeps up behind me / Send in the plague / Let em loose again.” The thesis of Krooked Tongue’s latest single is to not let time lost to a screen slip by you while life is happening.

You can listen to “Let Em Loose” on all music streaming platforms.
