Naked Giants' Newest Album, Shine Away, Out Now!

WRITTEN BY NEVAEH TILLMAN

Naked Giants shines bright with a new release album, Shine Away! I discovered them when I was writing a review for their single “Bad Guys Win.” They are ranking up to be one of my favorite indie artists. If you don’t believe me, my Apple Music says otherwise, as “Bad Guys Win” was my #1 song of the month. So when I heard they released their album, I quickly grabbed my earbuds!

Shine Away showcases the journey they have been through musically and through life. Naked Giants consists of Grant Mullen as the vocalist / guitarist, Gianni Aiello as bassist / vocalist, and Henry LaVallee on drums. They continue to uplift listeners with indie-rock vibes with themes of self-journey. The press release explains, “These songs sound less like anyone else than just the current iteration of Naked Giants, and of where and who they are these days. It’s certainly a more positive place–even on the more delicate and gentle anti-ballads, these songs radiate with a fuzzy, sunlit warmth.” This album proves they found their sound, are open to new energy, and have an emotional connection with their lyrics. I like when music is vulnerable and has a banger beat. This album proves that.

The songs I couldn’t get out of my head were: “Did I just Die,” “Case of the Bastards,” and “Shine Away.” The music highlights energetic guitar solos and unique drum patterns, all while maintaining vulnerable lyrics. Overall, I love Naked Giants, and I am excited to announce that they will be on tour. If you have the privilege, check them out live. If you can’t, then BLAST your earbuds listening to Shine Away!
