Never Too Late to Enjoy Bea Miller’s Album elated!

WRITTEN BY NEVAEH TILLMAN

Recently, when it comes to music, I will play anything my brain craves. Thus, I stumbled upon one of my high school favorite artists, Bea Miller. I remember being obsessed with her album aurora—she sparked my interests and I haven’t looked back since. Although she has three albums, she continues to stay a relevant artist in my book, and I got obsessed with her all over again with an album that slipped under my radar, elated!. It was released in 2020, and thinking back, I could have used this exciting, electric, heartfelt album at the time—but hey, better late than never! Miller continues sharpening her soundscape and gives listeners the goosebumps they need.

elated! obtains seven songs that each hold their own unique sound. The main star of the event is her great use of guitars, drums, and claps. It creates a unique mood and tone to the entire album, bringing something different to the music scene. Hence why I am writing this article, because more people deserve to hear this album. I won’t be gatekeeping this one, you’re welcome! Miller uses analogies and her slight jabs at sarcasm to bring the album to life, it’s quite perfect with the storytelling elements. elated! focuses on one’s own truths of living life, starting with “hallelujah” and ending with “self crucify.” My favorites are “forever is a lie” and “i never wanna die.” “Forever is a lie” acknowledges anyone who has been heartbroken. Its dynamic sound stands out with her unique voice bringing an unstoppable groove. The layering of her vocals is iconic! When I first heard this song, I kept it on repeat because I couldn’t get enough. Its rhythm is so strong and the different paces of high and low gives a fun song to sing along too. It also makes me feel like I am the best singer performing in my bedroom.

All in all, the album gives out badass energy with a story to tell. I found myself between the lyrics; I am only certain you could do the same. There's no such thing as late timing. If you are reading this article, it’s because this album was meant for you at this time. Listen to elated! for an addicting soundscape, you can’t escape.
