Party Nails Releases New Single, “Trigger Warning” Diving into a Synthetic Wave

WRITTEN BY NEVAEH TILLMAN

Music is powerful. It’s our voice of reason, our deepest desires, our darkest secrets, and so much more. Party Nails, also known as Elana Carroll, uses her platform to express herself. Her music journey has been a wonder of amazement from being a tween playing open mic in her hometown in New York, then discovering her passion for music technology to her first tour in 2017 with PVRIS and Lights.

The success is only up from there, because as mentioned in her press release, “In 2020 she wrote Rockin' on the Rag, a song about period pride, for Loren Bouchard’s Apple animated series Central Park, wrote and produced the Le Tigre-infused Supernatural for feminist rock duo Deap Vally…” Are you not amazed yet? Well, you may have already heard her in some of your favorite tv shows and movies, including “Glass, Girls, The L Word: Generation Q, Nancy Drew, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin…” I bet your jaw has dropped now? Cause mine has!

I give Party Nails so much props for her hardwork and dedication to music, she continues to share her passion with the world. On December 4th, she released a new single, “Trigger Warning.” The song follows the synthesizer tones creating an electric feel. Especially how the beat changes its tones from high to low pitch. In some ways it reminds me of the Stranger Things introduction song. I love how angelic her voice fits with the beat, it’s the perfect pair. One part of the song that caught my attention the most was mid song, she surprises her listeners with a beat drop. What makes it unique is how it fades in and out. It reminds me of entering and exiting a club.

The press release explains the song’s meaning, “Singing as a survivor processing her abusive relationship, the verses speak on injury and pain, endurance and triumph. When she sings ‘you’re gonna keep on rising / with the morning sun.’, Party Nails is once again holding space for opposing emotional forces in an immersive yet accessible piece of music.”

All in all, Party Nails is a genius lyrically and musically. I appreciate her vulnerability and listeners can find their own truths and connections to the lyrics–that’s what music is about. In other news, we can have something to look forward to in the new year with Party Nails new album Pillow Talk releasing January 2025. Yay! She is a new discovery for me, and I can’t wait to see what she brings in 2025. For now, listen to “Trigger Warning”!
