Indie rock band The Backfires recently dropped their new single, titled “Dressed to a Funeral”, on September 5th.
Formed in 2018, the band features Alex Gomez; vocals, Harry Ruprecht; guitarist, and Max Wanduragala; drummer, the latter two meeting while studying in London. They later connected with bassist Matt Walter in 2019, just before recording their debut EP, Consider the Backfires. From the start, their chemistry was undeniable, and it shows in their infectious sound.
Along with the single, the band released a music video—of which I’m a big fan. There’s something sincere about seeing a whole band together, especially when paired with a nostalgic vibe. The bridge and chorus of “Dressed to a Funeral” are incredibly catchy, drawing you in with melodies that linger long after the song ends. The track is packed with energy reminiscent of the 90s rock bands that defined a generation, making it the perfect anthem for anyone looking to relive the excitement of youth.
This song took me back to my college days. With its infectious chorus, you’ll find yourself singing along to the tune, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a go-to track on a long drive.
If you’re a fan of Eyedress or The Wallows, definitely check out “Dressed to a Funeral”! The Backfires have a sound that aligns perfectly with the current indie rock vibe, and they’re definitely a band to listen to. Keep an eye on them and hope to join the funeral!
