The Failsafe Impress with New Track, “Wolves”

WRITTEN BY CAITLIN TRAVERS

Earlier this month, rock band The Failsafe released their new single, “Wolves,” the follow-up to their recently released track “Dying to Exist.” Both songs boast a highly electrifying aura, but Wolves is uniquely passionate, almost having a feral energy. The track laces together a catchy chorus, atmospheric verses, and smooth melodies to create an infinitely-repeatable song for their fans. The band hones in on honest lyrics and relatable emotions as the track plays out, making for an instant repeat song for their fans. The single is also accompanied by a storytelling music video filled with blurry memories and a tinge of gore. “It’s the aftermath of what happens when you run with the wolves. It’s left to the imagination of what happened before that with accents of bruises and blood,” lead vocalist Jake Webber expands on the new track’s visual.

The song is very in line with the band’s willingness to create a cinematic feel: Webber continues, noting how the band wanted to be one “that gives you the song to get you through the last rep of your work-out, that last hour of your day, that rough break-up or that long trip you have to take. Essentially a fail-safe to get you through those emotional times.” This song definitely fills that role. Webber describes the message that inspired the song’s honest and relatable vocals. He says, “Wolves” paints a picture of addiction, depression, something that you're passionate about even, where somehow you always end up coming back as that animal. It doesn’t take a lot to get you there although it takes you away from it.”

The band, hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, seems to have found their niche, with this cinematic, highly emotional songwriting: their fans have supported them wholeheartedly, resulting in years of independent touring experience and a catalog boasting over 1 million streams. Pulling influences from the likes of artists such as Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens Wage War, and previously covered Rain City Drive, they’ve cemented their soundscape, bringing soaring riffs and hauntingly intense backing tracks that linger in listeners' minds long after hearing them. Now, The Failsafe is entering a new era with their new track, “Wolves,” and I am more than excited to see them develop this new musicality.
