Twin Skeletons “You and Me”

Twin Skeletons “You and Me”

WRITTEN BY MILLIE TURNER

Twin Skeletons is a Bath, England-based band that dropped their most recent single on March 28th. The rock quartet consists of lead vocalist Phoebe Milard (she/her), guitarist James Millard (he/him), bassist Fred Tilbury (he/him) and drummer Joe Gorfin (he/him). The band has seen major success in its short life, only forming in 2022 when siblings Phoebe and James co-founded the group. Twin Skeletons has had over 100,000 streams on Spotify and was featured on BBC Radio 1 World Premiere and BBC Radio 1’s Future Flavour & Track of the Weeks.

Twin Skeletons’ music seems to be an homage to the bands that came before them in the 2000s’ and 2010s’ with their pop-punk sound. Lead vocalist Phoebe has a Haley Williams style of singing, bringing a warm sense of nostalgia for older Gen Z and Millennial listeners.

“You and Me” is a smooth, cool-toned rock song with circa early 2000s female lead vibes that tells a story of the pain of idealizing a partner in a romantic relationship. Phoebe Milard’s vocals have a slight vocal fry paired with synths that give the song an evergreen cool sound. The bridge features a guitar riff that shows the band’s circa 2010s’ muses with a Panic! at the Disco essence. If you are like me and enjoyed music in the time between when the first iPod came out and before Tik Tok was even a thought, you will have appreciation for this up-and-coming band with a “blast from the past” sound.

You can listen to Twin Skeleton’s newest single “You and Me” on Apple Music and Spotify. And you can see them live in concert at the Cavern Club in Exeter, UK on August 16th.
