While I personally prefer staying in to going out, I’m excited to report this is the song that allows me to party from the comfort of my own room. Pop singer and influencer Izza has just released her new single and music video “Sweat,” and with a soundscape dominated by the smoky and sexy aesthetics the early 2000s are known for, this may be the song I keep on rotation for the next few months.
Izza describes the song as being “based on the feeling and sensations many people have behind closed doors with their significant other.” She shares, “I wanted to write a 2000s pop hit type of song that you could dance to and feel like your best self. This is my favorite era of music so I wanted to put my own spin on it.” With an electric backing track and intense lyrics, I, for one, can confirm I haven’t stopped grooving since I put it on.
Looking beyond her new single, Izza’s upcoming EP Because I'm Blonde aims to deconstruct the stereotypes surrounding being blonde, especially as they pertain to navigating relationships. She describes how “...while being blonde makes me feel confident and sexy at times, I also can feel like I'm not taken seriously when it comes to dating. The insecurities of being labeled the ‘fun blonde’ or the girl that's only wanted for a ‘good time’ has made me question my appearance and its connotations. Ultimately, writing and producing this EP has taught me to celebrate my blondeness and use it as a strength”
With a dedicated fan base built up by creative social media campaigns and her incredible musicality, whatever she puts out is bound to be well-received. Her previous songs, for example, have received acclaim from the likes of Genius, Entertainment Tonight, LADYGUNN, and the New York Post. She has also showcased her talents at prominent events like the 320 Festival, sharing stages with artists such as Chris Martin of Coldplay, Elohim, and Social House. Beyond her music career, Izza champions self-love and advocates for mental health awareness, themes especially clear in her uplifting lyrics.
