I have been lucky enough to discover more bands, and I am happy to introduce the trio, The Lucky. They primarily use electrifying guitars to create pop/alternative rock music. The Lucky consists of guitarist Maison Thomas, drummer and producer Joshua Mardine, and vocalist Tucker Click. They once were college roommates and now soon-to-be rockstars! Recently, they released their EP, Wait It Out, with a music video for “Wait It Out” the single.
The song immediately starts with a guitar and relatable lyrics. Usually I follow a song for its beat, but in this case, I got lost in the lyrics for how relatable they are. 2024 has been an interesting year for myself, and quite frankly, I may not be where I want to be, but the waiting game is important. Being present and living in the moment is what matters most. This song manages to encapsulate that—The Lucky uses this song to focus on their time in their music careers, but listeners can find ways to apply it to their own journeys.
When I listened to “Wait It Out” a second time, I got past the lyrics and found myself dancing to the song. I love the build up to the chorus, the use of the drums gets listeners amped! In addition, the music video matches the vibes of the song perfectly. It’s fun as The Lucky goof off in a parking lot. They are seen dancing, being silly, and overall, having a good time! In correlation to the song’s meaning, I see the resemblance in the music video and the concept of enjoying your journey of life, rather than the destination. Mason Thomas explains, “Directed by our insanely talented friend William Bermudez, the “Wait It Out” video is a playful visualization of our Time spent waiting to ‘make it’ as musicians. The song is about how we aren’t quite where we want to be and feel like we are left in the waiting room. The video leans more towards how we are staying positive while waiting and still living our lives to the fullest while we do our best in our careers.”
If you find yourself needing to reflect and dance it out, listen to “Wait It Out” and watch the music video to join in the fun!
