Pauli the PSM, the musical moniker of Pauli Lovejoy (he/they), wrapped up his second-to-last show of The Saucy Tour at Los Angeles’ The Echo on November 29. The 350-capacity venue gave the show an intimate, up-close feel — juxtaposing the large arenas and stadiums audience members may have seen Pauli play in while touring with Harry Styles’ Love on Tour.

The same upbeat, infectious energy that Pauli brought to Love on Tour was concentrated and reverberating throughout The Echo. Pauli’s setlist was interwoven with audience participation that made the night extra special for their fans. Holding hands, giving out roses and bringing a fan onstage for a dance were just a few of those moments.

When not interacting directly with their audience, Pauli was singing, dancing, rapping, playing percussion and a drum kit, jumping behind a keyboard and more. They even did a quick cover of One Direction’s “Steal My Girl,” with the audience quickly jumping in to scream and sing along with each lyric.

Much to the delight of audience members, Pauli the PSM brought three Love on Tour alumni to the show with him. Ny Oh, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist for Love on Tour, opened the show with her self-described “sad folk music.” Her vibrant and relaxing set put everyone at ease before Pauli’s brightened, heightened energy. She came back to the stage to join Pauli for a song toward the end of the show.

Lorren Chiodo, a saxophonist who was part of “Harry’s Horns” during Love on Tour, joined Pauli onstage about a third of the way through the show, playing beautiful solos for one song.

Saving the most hype for the end of the night, Pauli brought out Ariza, one of the guitarists from Love on Tour, to shred during “Saucy.” Ariza produced the song, which Pauli explained to the audience before playing the intro and jumping into the first verse.

My personal favorite song of Pauli’s, “I Got the Beat” was the final song of the show. Pauli the PSM’s The Saucy Tour wraps up in North America on December 3, 2023 in Oakland, CA before moving over to the UK and Europe in April 2024.
